Healthy Steps: Moving you to better health with The Lebed Method by Julie Kaufmann

The program combines sound physical therapy practice with the freeing aspects of playful movement, incorporating music, props, positive reinforcement from a group, and empowerment from information; it is a potent package that addresses mind, body, and spirit. Each class begins with the Lymphatic Opening-a set of exercises unique to Healthy-Steps. By focusing on the areas of the body with the largest lymphatic collection sites, and opening lymphatic drains, Healthy-Steps opens up the lymphatic system, and reduces lymphatic fluid build-up through gentle, rhythmic movements and deep breathing. All the exercises can be done sitting or standing, and help with stretching scar tissue, regaining range of motion, reducing lymphedema swelling, working on balance, and increasing flexibility, all while promoting a positive self-image. With props and eclectic music as background, the emphasis in this class is on fun while exercising.
